In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed present situation in Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Parliament stressed that aggression of the Russian Federation against the Crimea stood in the way of Ukraine’s stabilization: “Having no reasons, the Russian Federation has occupied a part of Ukraine’s territory”.

“Aggression of the Russian Federation is not only a challenge for our country. It is also a challenge for global collective security system. This proves that the Russian Federation called into question the system of  collective global security”, he said, adding that Ukraine is ready to settle the Crimean issue in a democratic way, however, Russia actually derails this process.

In his turn, Ranko Krivokapic stressed that the OSCE supports territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

“We have declared this repeatedly, but this is only a beginning, we need to do a lot more for Ukraine”, he said, adding that the OSCE does everything to promote the dialogue for settling the Crimean issue peacefully.

Moreover, the Parties discussed the issue on holding “fair and transparent presidential elections”.

Oleksandr Turchynov emphasized that the government wants “these elections to be demonstrative as to the level of their democracy, freedom and transparency”.

“Thus, observers from international institutions and the OSCE have been invited to Ukraine”, he added.

Ranko Krivokapic stressed that this year in Ukraine the biggest OSCE mission for the whole period of our mutual relations will be presented.

“I am sure that these will be the most democratic and transparent elections in the history of Ukraine, and we will do everything possible to support you in this”, he summed up.
